STOUGHTON, MASS. (WHDH) – The Stoughton Police Department has released the results of a 19-month investigation in a 60-page report into an allegedly inappropriate sexual relationship between three now-former Stoughton officers, another Massachusetts officer and a military recruiter, and a teenage girl .
All of these men are accused of having an inappropriate relationship with the teenager, which began when she attended the department’s “Explorer” mentorship program a few years ago.
In February 2021, the then 23-year-old pregnant woman took her own life and was found dead by the police in her canton apartment.
The three Stoughton officers have since resigned from their positions, and the chief is in the process of having their certifications revoked, rendering them ineligible to serve with law enforcement in Massachusetts.
The Stoughton Police Chief said she was “disgusted” – by both the actions and the inaction of the officers.
“I’m trying to look at this as a human being, not just a woman,” Chief Donna McNamara said. “Everyone, male or female, is just as outraged when they read this (report).”
Stoughton Police turned the report over to the Norfolk County Attorney’s Office. Since there is no victim to testify in this case, the officers appear not to be prosecuted. Despite this, prosecutors said the case would continue to be investigated.
