More torrential rains are in store for the morning commute, with the most widespread showers and storms between 6am and 10am. After 10:00 am we will start to see sunbursts from west to east, but there will still be enough instability and humidity to fire up a few isolated thunderstorms.
This morning’s downpours can produce over 1″ of rain in a short period of time where the heaviest rain falls. It’s sure to be a blustery morning commute, so allow a little extra time to get to your destination.
While the greatest risk from these storms today is local downpours causing street flooding/flooding of areas with poor drainage, a single severe thunderstorm cannot be ruled out. There is a lot of wind just above the surface, so isolated gusts of damage are possible. Low risk of rotation in these storms. We’ll keep a close eye on the radar.
We’re drying out tonight and lowering the humidity. That will set the stage for a great looking Friday with highs nearing 80, some sunshine and controlled humidity.
The weekend looks seasonal with temperatures in the 70’s. At this point, it looks like most of the rain will avoid southern New England and any late Saturday showers will be isolated. Monday offers a better chance of showers.
