A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenager was killed in Stevenage this weekend, apparently on his way home from his prom.

Kajetan Migdal, 18, was attacked around 11.20pm on Friday night and died in hospital hours later.

His family have paid tribute to a “joyful young man” after the Cuttys Lane incident – and set up a GoFundMe page for travel and funeral expenses.

Mr Migdal, said to be an animal and dance lover, was taken to Lister Hospital where he died early Saturday morning.

Hertfordshire Police said a man of the same age has now been arrested.

On the donation page, the boy’s aunt, Corrie Everett, from the US, wrote: “My handsome, talented, intelligent nephew, Kajetan Migdal, was murdered… on his way home from prom.

“As a family, we are completely shocked and devastated by this great loss.

“He had his whole life ahead of him and an exciting summer planned, and a sick, evil individual took it all from him and from all of us.”

Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins, of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire’s Serious Crime Unit, said: “Although an arrest has been made, we continue to follow a number of lines of investigation and are still appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about what happened to be around us to contact.

“I would like to thank those who have reached out so far.”

She continued: “Extensive investigations are being conducted to determine the sequence of events before and after the fatal incident.

“Special officers are assisting the victim’s family and we ask that their privacy be respected at this time.”

In a tribute to the victim, his family added: “Kajetan was a loving, cheerful young man with a bright future, known for his love of dance, animals, hard work and caring friendships.

“As an academic and hobbyist, he was set for greatness.

“He had just finished school and had his life ahead of him as well. The entire family is devastated at the loss of a dearly loved family member and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”
