Fineanganofo was arrested at the scene and charged with murder. The Raby man failed to appear when his matter was raised at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday morning.

His lawyer, Javid Faiz, told the court that his client would not seek his release, and his request was formally denied. Faiz said Fineanganofo is hospitalized under police guard and undergoing a mental health assessment because his client suffered from serious mental health problems.

“He has a psychosis issue, he’s currently in Long Bay Hospital,” Faiz said.

Tougher had been on the job for about a year and married his wife, Madison, five weeks before his death.

The couple was due to give birth to their second child in just a few weeks.

A GoFundMe page set up to support Tougher’s family has been inundated with more than 3,800 donations and has already raised more than $240,000.
