Starbucks workers share requests they hate, sparking debate

Every job brings its fair share of complaints. While some may be expected, others may surprise people unfamiliar with the industry.

TikTok user Michela (@michelacrayton) recently went viral for making some of these complaints public. In a video that has now garnered over 47,000 views, she shares a series of work requests from her time at Starbucks that have her and her co-workers cringe.

Complaints include making cold brews, preparing items “on the fly”, cleaning floors, “slipping[ing] in dto/dtr” (ie taking orders from the drive-thru), cleaning the bathrooms and working at the refrigerated counter.

In the comments section, Michela said that despite her complaints, she loves her job and clarified that she shot the video during each employee’s respective breaks.

Commenters and alleged current and former Starbucks employees also chimed in in the comments section, with some agreeing with Michela’s assessment and others disagreeing.

“Sliding into dtr is honestly the worst thing that has happened to me at work,” wrote one user.

“I’ll do floors if it gets me out of the crowd,” added another.

“I will not ask any of these questions except dto/dtr and bathroom,” wrote a third.

In contrast, others found solace or even pleasure in completing Michela’s listed tasks.

“Nah, but making cold brew is such a nice break,” shared one commenter.

“I live for floors,” wrote another.

“I kinda like bathrooms,” admitted another.

“Why do you hate dtr?” asked a fourth. “You get paid to talk to people about what’s not to love.”

Even more users offered their own entries for Michela’s list.

“Can you do drains,” added a TikToker.

“Can you clean the ovens and sinks,” wrote a second.

“Can you do a garbage run,” added a third.

In particular, supposed current and former Starbucks users were amazed at how accurate this list of complaints was.

As one user shared, “IM CRYING SO TRUE HAHAHHA.”

The Daily Dot contacted Michela via TikTok comment.
