Starbucks worker shares her graduation routine alone

A Starbucks employee says she’s considering quitting after sharing her routine for closing alone on TikTok.

The worker named Destinee (@defffnotdes) posted a video showing “not all, but most” of what she does as she closes her Starbucks location on her own.

In the video, Destinee says the store was “pretty dead,” so at 6:26 p.m. she began closing milk, throwing out baked goods, setting up chairs in the lobby, taking out trash and putting away coffee syrup.

The TikToker says she got home “really late” after the shutdown, but doesn’t reveal how long the shutdown routine lasted. In the caption of her video, she writes that she is “thinking about quitting.”

Some commenters speculated that Destinee will have to work at a Starbucks in a Target store if she has to close on her own. Others advised her to move to a corporate location.

“I think it’s a Starbucks goal that could make a difference,” commented one viewer.

“Beast is moving to a corporate Starbucks so you don’t have to close by yourself. Working at a Target Starbucks sounds a lot worse,” commented a second viewer.

Destinee has confirmed by responding to comments that she works at a Starbucks at a Target store, which she says may impact the store’s policy on how many employees are required to close.

“Please answer, can you close alone? It’s not against politics? Because once my manager wouldn’t let me go home because she just couldn’t close on her own,” said one viewer.

In response, Destinee wrote, “I work at a Starbucks in Target so the policy is different than a standalone Starbucks if you work there!”

Other Starbucks employees commented on the differences between their Starbucks locations and Destinee’s. Some noted the presence of peach juice and the floor mats that Destinee had thrown in the dishwasher.

“Oh my god, what goes in the dishwasher?! [crying emoji] A girl could dream, we had to scrub her,” said one user.

Another user wrote in all caps, “U GUYS HAVE PEACH JUICE.”

The Daily Dot reached out to Destinee via TikTok comment and Starbucks via email.
