Starbucks executive resigns after entire workforce was recalled on Saturday

A Starbucks employee on TikTok claims his store was thrown into chaos when almost the entire workforce called on a Saturday – which allegedly resulted in the store’s manager resigning immediately afterwards.

The hospitality industry is reportedly such a stressful profession that some companies hire personal therapists to help employees cope with their duties. When it comes to high-traffic chains that are fast-moving and therefore probably higher-stress environments, there are many who would say Starbucks hovers high on this list.

The issue of understaffing and unionization at Starbucks has long been debated among employees across the country, especially in 2021 and 2022. Social media is awash with anecdotal stories of coffee chain workers venting their frustrations with the trade have expressed with stores simply not having enough staff on site making it difficult to maintain normal operations.

In the case of the Starbucks employee at that particular location, Enn (@ennachx), staffing issues led her manager to quit his job.

“When the entire morning team and the back shift cancel on a Saturday and my store manager quits immediately afterward,” Enn writes in the clip’s lyric overlay while lip-reading the lyrics to Lana Del Rey’s “Mariners Apartment Complex.”

Enn’s video has been viewed over 25,000 times, and several viewers said they hope to do the same at their own Starbucks locations.

“Don’t give us ideas beast,” said one user.

“Starbucks is so stressful,” added a second.

One commenter said they experienced a similar situation as Enns in their own store. “Nobody works in our store on Sundays (only about 4 out of 10 people will come in) and our manager was fired precisely because of that,” they said.

Another encouraged Enn to unionize the workers at her store and even offered to help her with it.

According to, there are a large number of Starbucks stores that have unionized: over 250 locations at time of publication. The year 2022 ended with several open elections yet to be determined. The outlet states that 394 different locations have already campaigned for a union.

The Daily Dot has contacted Enn via TikTok comment and Starbucks via email for more information.
