Starbucks employees share how they play games with customers

Starbucks mugs are a hot commodity, and nobody knows that better than workers who enjoy watching the madness right before their eyes.

Starbucks employee and TikToker @xenaquintanaaa, who has over 40,000 followers, posted a video that received over 3 million views. It shows a game that the baristas in their shop obviously like to play.

“Sometimes we save a good mug and see who snags it for fun,” reads the video’s text overlay.

In the video, a customer is ordering at the counter when a clerk comes out with a cup in hand and puts it on the shelf. The customer then turns around and grabs the cup as soon as the employee puts it down.

The barista then laughs while accommodating his fellow barista. “Oh being a Starbucks barista,” @xenaquintanaa captioned the clip.

Viewers questioned the hype behind Starbucks mugs, noting how the filming barista appeared to get distracted while attempting to take an order from a drive-through customer.

“What’s the hype about Starbucks cups seriously? Have been going for years and have never bought a single one,” one asked.

“Thanks for-thanks for choo-thanks for cho-thanks for choosing Starbucks,” reads the top comment of the video, recalling the filmmaker’s reaction as he saw the customer scurry to the cup.

Another said he would be “embarrassed” if the baristas in the shops they frequent do this to them without them knowing.
