A Starbucks customer placed a huge order totaling $52,000. Yes, $52,000 — the amount of a brand new car, enough to pay off a house, one person’s salary for the year, all spent on countless carats of sugar.
“Yes no I would say we are closed, sorry,” said one commenter.
In a viral TikTok, a Starbucks employee shows viewers a screen with the order text and the total cost. The person in question ordered 9,576 venti Caramel Frappuccinos. The pre-tax subtotal is $52,189.20.
In the next clip, @esha__crosby shows dozens of drink stickers they printed out for an unusually huge order. One commented: “Rip to your sticker machine,” another commented.
While some commenters speculated that the video could be a stunt to get views on TikTok, one pointed out that, “this must be real because they have the ticket PRINTED.”
It’s unclear whether the Starbucks location had adequate supplies for 9,576 drinks and whether the Frappuccinos were frozen by the time the 9,576th drink was prepared and served.
One person in the comments section said: “All but the last 10 will be melted by the time you all finish.
One commenter made the point that Starbucks should set up a catering company that “customers bc do this and get this done when we’re not done in 5 minutes”.
Viral TikTok has more than 266,000 views on the video-sharing app.
“I DONE, this person needs to be my Sugar Daddy,” @esha__crosby wrote in the caption.
Several other workers expressed their experiences with strange orders.
“Lmao definitely beat my 74 drink orders at my store! Oops, I hope you all are okay after this,” wrote one commenter.
“I REMEMBER THE ONE TIME I DID THIS AND I GOT THE COMPUTER,” said another.
Others said they may have declined orders or tried their best not to be drawn into helping.
“I simply refused to fulfill that order. I will cancel and say we have no lmao ingredients,” said one commenter.
“That’s when I took care of my registered business and didn’t try to go into a bar because [the] the rest of my shift,” said one.
Despite the jokes about quitting, it looks like @esha__crosby and their team made it through. “10k fraps later,” @esha__crosby said in a follow-up comment.
Despite many comments asking to update the video, TikToker has yet to make a story about the situation.
Daily Dot reached out to @esha__crosby via direct message on Instagram and to Starbucks via email.
