Starbucks barista slams a customer’s Pumpkin Spice Latte order

For some, August is the peak of summer. For others, it’s the unofficial start of fall filled with fall cheer.

For some, however, the pursuit of autumn in August is at least odd. A Starbucks barista roasts a customer who was looking for one of the company’s most iconic beverages before it even made it onto the menu: the Pumpkin Spice Latte.

The video posted by @letthebandplay shows him behind the counter at her Starbucks store, with a text overlay above her head. The video has been viewed more than 2.5 million times.

“Nah why did this woman come in and say ‘I know you have pumpkin spice please give me some’ like she’s dying and it’s her blood type or something,” the text overlay reads.

“Ppl r too much but honestly I get paid enough for this,” the worker added in the caption.

Some commenters claiming to work for Starbucks explained to unaware viewers that the pumpkin spice syrup that gives the drink its trademark is not yet available to order.

Others shared their own experiences of jonesing for a drink they may not be able to have for a while.

“A friend of mine was on the verge of having a nervous breakdown and she wanted pumpkin spice and she told the barista and she said no and then she broke down,” wrote one commenter.

“Girls I’ve been craving a pumpkin cream cold brew for months,” wrote another commenter of Starbucks’ other pumpkin-flavored drink. “I would give my left kidney for it.”

“I go to Starbucks every day for a PSL as soon as it comes out and then quit for the rest of the year because nothing is as good,” wrote one commenter.

In response to comments criticizing them for not providing the drink, @letthebandplay clarified that the drink has not yet been released for fall.

“These people in the comments STILL acting like you’re wrong for not giving it to her make me MADDDD,” one viewer wrote, to which the barista replied, “YES ME TOO, HOW DO PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT THAT I CANNOT GIVE SOMETHING ON THE MENU BUT THIS INTERACTION WAS FUNNY.”

Customers just have to wait for the drink to launch, and Starbucks has kept that date under wraps. In 2021, the drink was released on August 24th.
