Spy Kids fans, you’re in luck – Netflix has officially confirmed that it is relaunching the film franchise after 21 years.

The streaming giant will team up with original filmmaker Robert Rodriguez to reinvent movies for a new generation.

Rodriguez, who too Director of The Book of Boba Fett, will write, direct and produce the new film.

The plot is being kept under wraps, but it is believed that the film will introduce a new family of spies.

Netflix announced the exciting news in a tweet, writing, “Spy Kids was released on March 30, 2001.

“So the 21st anniversary of the hit action comedy seems like the perfect time to unveil that Robert @Rodriguez will be writing, directing and producing a reimagining of the hit franchise and introducing the world to a new family of spies.”

We are very ready.

The original Spy Kids movies starred Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara as Carmen and Juni Cortez, the kids who get involved in their parents’ spy organization.

Antonio Banderas starred as Gregorio Cortez, with Carla Gugino as Ingrid Cortez.

The Spy Kids franchise was hugely successful, with the first film leading into three sequels, The Island of Lost Dreams released in 2002, Game Over in 2003 and All the Time in the World in 2011.
