Spirit employee mocks how airlines charge for everything

While many Spirit Airlines fly because it’s marketed as a low-cost airline, it’s often criticized, along with other low-cost airlines, for catching up on the money it doesn’t make through ticket sales elsewhere and being riddled with hurdles. A flight attendant was filmed mocking the airline’s reputation.

The video was posted by TikToker Erick (@cali.style.trucking) on March 23 (The Daily Dot contacted Erick via TikTok comment). The employee goes on the intercom to make fun of all the things the airline doesn’t offer and make it clear that if the airline had these offers, they would definitely charge customers for them.

“No, we don’t have outlets to plug your phones into, because if you do, we’ll charge you,” she begins. “No, we don’t have any blankets for you because if we did, this is Spirit and we will charge you. No, your seats do not recline. If you did it again, this is Spirit and we will charge you.”

“And no, we don’t have earplugs for you because if we did, you all know this is Spirit and we’re going to do what?” she says, asking the crowd.

“Billing you!” shouts a passenger.

The video has been viewed over 273,000 times. The passengers seemed to love the worker’s energy. Many laughed at every line, and Erick called the worker “the shit” in the text overlay, adding in the caption, “Gotta love the honesty. This shit is comedy!!!”

Viewers equally enjoyed the worker’s quips. “She needs a promotion immediately,” commented TikToker @mcdonaldscokestan.

“That’s why I love Spirit, love her sense of humor,” said another.

“That’s quiet quitting,” joked a third.

According to Conde Nast Traveler, “Spirit Airlines sells baggage fees, seat supplements and numerous other fare add-on options for everything beyond simple transportation. It’s a business model that has helped Spirit lower its rates, but those fees can add up quickly.”

However, customers have found workarounds for some of these charges. One customer, Sarah Rachul @thesarahrachul, shared how she had her bags shipped to her destination before her flight for $28 because it was a cheaper option than paying Spirit’s bag fee. Another customer did the same and saved $115.
