Sir Michael Parkinson has been spotted at Wimbledon in a rare public appearance by the broadcast legend.

The star seemed in good spirits as he left with Mary, his 63-year-old wife, on Wednesday.

Sir Michael, 87, looked dapper in a gray suit with a white shirt and blue tie, while Mary, 85, looked ready for the sun in a white blazer, floral scarf and sunglasses.

Both smiled as they posed for the camera and Sir Michael smiled too as he took his seat in the stands and soaked up the atmosphere.

It was a star-studded day at Wimbledon, with David Beckham, Hugh Grant and Gemma Chan all making an appearance.

Becks stole the show, beaming alongside his mother Sandra Georgina West as they eagerly watched the games from the Royal Box on Center Court, where Nick Kyrgios and Rafael Nadal were among the players.

Fellow sports legends Laura Kenny and her husband Jason Kenny also took their places in the Royal Box in front of the Beckhams to watch the action-packed quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Prince William could also be seen enjoying the day – although viewers were convinced he dropped some not-so-family-friendly language when he eventually got frustrated.

Sir Michael is not often seen in public these days, but last year he celebrated 50 years as a broadcaster.

A special documentary treated viewers to clips from Sir Michael’s career, including conversations with Billy Connolly, Muhammad Ali and Lauren Bacall as he looked back at all the famous names he’d interviewed over the years.

Despite the occasional slip, viewers mostly loved seeing Parky back on screens and urging him to have his own show again.
