Sir Alex Ferguson admits ‘absolute agony’ after presenting Jurgen Klopp with the award | Soccer

Sir Alex Ferguson admitted it was “absolute agony” to present him with the League Managers Association (LMA) Manager of the Year award Jurgen Klopp on Tuesday evening.
Klopp guided Liverpool to second in the Premier League that season, finishing just a point behind champions Manchester City.
Having already won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup this season, Klopp could secure that third trophy by the end of the week when Liverpool play Real Madrid in Saturday’s Champions League final.
Ferguson, who has won the LMA Manager of the Year award five times during his Manchester United career, was at the ceremony to present Klopp with this season’s award.
But when he revealed Klopp’s name, the Scot joked: “It’s agony, absolute agony.”
Ferguson then added: “I told him 12 years ago to go to a club with history. I should have told him to go to Scunthorpe United.’
After receiving the award, Klopp said: “It’s a great honor and it’s been a crazy season.
“The last matchday where only two games were meaningless and in the rest we all played for absolutely everything.
“It wasn’t the best result for us, but we’ve already got it.
“When you win an award like this, you’re either a genius or you have the best coaching staff in the world – and I’m here with all my coaching teams, they know how much I appreciate them.”
