SHREWSBURY, MASS. (WHDH) – Shrewsbury Police are asking for the public’s help as they locate the owners of a dog who was found tied to a bench near a shopping center over the weekend.
On their Facebook pageThe Shrewsbury Police Department shared a photo of the dog, which was found Sunday morning in the 1000 Boston Turnpike area near the Christmas Tree Shops.
According to the department, the dog had been tied to a bench by its leash, with its owner reportedly seen leaving the area in a taxi.
The dog, who appeared to be a German shepherd, was described as having been neutered and wearing a black collar with a chain leash and was not microchipped.
“If this dog looks familiar, or if you have any information about its owner, please contact the Shrewsbury Police Department at 508-845-4681 or Shrewsbury Animal Control at 508-841-8421,” the Facebook post read. page of the department.
Meanwhile, police said the dog is being held at the Worcester Animal Rescue League and is not currently available for adoption.
