Three teenagers arrested. The victim’s wound is not life-threatening.

(West Valley City Police Department) Police are investigating a shooting at the Valley Fair Mall.

A man was shot and wounded at Valley Fair Mall Monday and three youths are in custody.

A 25-year-old man who was shopping at a mall at 3600 South and 2700 West around 6 p.m. was shot in the hip, according to West Valley City Police Department. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of a wound that is believed not to be life threatening.

The three boys, whose names and ages were not released, left the mall immediately after the shooting, police said. They were arrested without incident at a TRAX station across from 2700 West from the mall, just steps from the West Valley City Police Department.

Police said they recovered a handgun near a shop between the mall and the TRAX station. They did not say what led to the shooting.

The mall was not locked down because the three boys left immediately after the shooting, police said. A small area of ​​the mall was cordoned off pending police investigations.

The three boys were taken into juvenile detention.
