Shopper’s alarm sounded after touching meat in store

One shopper claims via TikTok that an alarm went off every time she touched certain packs of meat at her local Sainsbury’s grocery store.
The video, posted by user @hennezi.zi, shows her trying to pick up a pack of beef from behind a shelf. However, every time she picks up the package, a small alarm sounds.
“I’ll touch the meat in a moment,” she says before picking up the package. “Every time!” she exclaims after the alarm clock rings.
She doubled down in the caption: “Are people really stealing meat?! This cost-of-living crisis is really crisis-ridden.” At the time of publication, her video has over 3.3 million views.

@hennezi.zi’s TikTok hashtags lead viewers to believe she’s shopping at a Sainsbury’s store in London. The Daily Dot reached @hennezi.zi via TikTok comment. It’s not immediately clear from their video if this was a problem or not All Meat products in the store.
However, in a statement to YorkshireLive, Sainsbury denied claims about the alarms. “Due to security concerns, we cannot provide further details, but no alarm will sound if someone simply takes a product from the shelf,” a spokesman said.
Still, many viewers questioned whether the rising cost of groceries and groceries – coupled with the fact that meat is among the most commonly stolen and resold items in grocery stores – has prompted retailers to sound the alarm bells.
“Cost of the greed crisis” is the top comment on the video with over 10,200 likes.
“They would rather let it spoil and rot at ridiculous prices than feed a starving family who had to take someone away,” wrote a second user.
“#costofgreedcrisis,” said a third viewer. “#taxtherich.”
