Nursing home workers are being suspended for making fun of their elderly patients by dressing in diapers and dancing in a video posted on TikTok.
The clip, from Gillibrand Hall Nursing Home in Chorley, Lancashire, shows a staff member posing in a deck chair as boy band Westlife’s hit ballad You Raise Me Up is played.
Employees at the dementia care facility also dance with pillows strapped with face masks.
A spokesman for Century Healthcare Management, which runs the £600-a-week, listed care home, apologized for the footage.
They said: “We agree that this is totally inappropriate and wrong. We are appalled by the decision of these employees and are already taking appropriate action, including investigating and suspending employees.’
The care home continued: “We take this matter very seriously and do not condone these actions.
“We have contacted the families when necessary. Our operations manager speaks directly to our inspector from the Care Quality Commission.
“Management and directors will be interviewing relevant staff this week before making any final decisions. With our sincere apologies.’
The clip was widely shared on TikTok, but it’s understood the account it was listed under has now been deleted.
The care home, which provides nursing, dementia and respite care for people over 65, was rated as good by the CQC in March for having adequately trained and qualified staff.
The CQC, which regulates care homes, has been contacted for comment on the video footage.
