They were the talk of the town in Sydney’s eastern suburbs as their age gap romance wagged tongues, now several years later, Andrew Spira and Julia Maguire shape Sydney’s real estate scene.
Emerald City can reveal that the couple invested $9 million in a four-bedroom Vaucluse home that overlooks the harbor in October last year. The couple have already shared 11 investment properties, including a Shoal Bay weekender and an apartment block in Elizabeth Bay.
In 2020, the couple paid $3.41 million — $310,000 over reserve — for three two-bedroom apartments and one one-bedroom at 72 Elizabeth Bay Road.
Spira, 23, is the son of a socialite Lizzie Buttrose – the niece of Ita Butterrose — and is the founder and CEO of corporate loan broker Pineapple Funding. Ms. Maguire, 37, is the managing director of media agency The Capital Network.
The couple first made headlines in 2019 when Emerald City exclusively reported that the couple, who met through Buttrose, had started a relationship. They are now considered engaged.
Shaquille O’Neal is moving into The Star
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal travels Down Under this month for the first time in 20 years for a series of lectures and public appearances in Sydney and Melbourne.
While in town, Emerald City hears that Shaq and his large entourage will be staying at the Star’s Darling Hotel, in a penthouse suite that costs more than $5,000 a night.
The Darling is the only hotel in town with a Forbes Five Star rating. He’s rumored to be shooting baskets in the middle of the Star Sports Bar during his stay in Harbor City.
While in town he’ll be dusting off his DJ Diesel name for an exclusive DJ set at nightclub The Star’s Marquee.
