Shaq “Chosen to Evade” is served in the crypto suit

In the trial of the bankrupt crypto exchange FTX, a number of celebrities were named as defendants. Big names like Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen, Larry David and Steph Curry are all defendants in a class action lawsuit filed on behalf of an Oklahoma resident who had an FTX account. According to the lawsuit, the celebrities who endorsed the company “engaged in fraudulent practices to sell high-yielding FTX currency accounts.”

There’s a celebrity defendant who was said to be a bit difficult to use, and it’s the (quite literally) biggest name of the group. According to Forbes’ Sarah Emerson, there have been several attempts to minister to Shaquille O’Neal, who attorneys allege “decided to evade duty to delay this process or otherwise try to gain a response to.” withdraw these allegations”.

How he does it, lawyers claim Shaq is hiding in his house to avoid being served. According to Forbes:

Last month, the 7ft 1in athlete was said to be hiding at his home when trial officers showed up at his door with court files. The attorneys also claimed to have contacted O’Neal’s last known counsel, to no avail.

Both Shaq’s spokesman and the attorneys representing the plaintiff did not respond to a request for comment from Forbes. The Basketball Hall of Fame inductee was asked about his involvement with FTX last year, saying, “A lot of people think I’m involved, but I was just a paid spokesperson for a commercial.”
