Server blasts customers who tipped 10% after praising their service

A waitress’ viral call to a table who left her a 10% tip after actively complimenting the service received sparked a discussion about service and tipping on TikTok.
The video posted by @cantstopthiswap has been viewed more than 295,000 times on the platform. In it, she says the customer who tipped her 10% immediately praised her service.
“I just want everyone to know that when you tip 10%, but before you tip 10%, you’re like, ‘Oh my god, thank you so much, everything was great and we had such a great time, you did made me feel great ‘and you suck my tits with praise and then tip me 10%?’ she says in the video. “That’s so rude.”

She goes on to say that she would have preferred they been rude to her if they tipped so low. According to Bankrate, the industry standard for good service is around 15-20%.
“I would so much prefer it if you got up from your table and slapped me in the mouth and said, ‘You’re ugly, you’re stupid, that was the worst service I’ve ever had,’ and then gave me $10 for leave $100. I would so much prefer that and I respect it because you looked me in the eye like a human and turned against me. But no, if you actively tell me, ‘You did a great job’ and then tip me 10%, (I) want to hit you back.”
Viewers empathized with @cantstopthiswap, with many having had their own experiences of customers not tipping well.
“And these are the same people who leave their number on the receipt and think you’ll call them later,” wrote one commenter.
“And that 10% is shared by the bar and the waiter and sometimes the host,” said another viewer. “Yes thanks, I make $2.65 an hour too. girl i feel you I wish people knew!”
“Especially when they embellish the tip receipt with hearts and smileys and ‘You’re great!’ and random inspirational hashtags like what,” added a third.
However, some viewers criticized the idea that waiters are entitled to a tip despite a job well done.
“Girls at least they tipped you in the first place,” wrote one commenter.
“Unfortunately, there is a recession,” argued a second. “Not everyone has that kind of money.
The food has cost a lot. Ask our government for more money.”
“But sometimes it’s all I have or I’m on budget and can’t tip anymore, we all have problems here dear,” said another user.
