It will be another incredible end to the season to determine which team will qualify for next season of Europa League football. Fiorentina beat Jose Mourinho’s Roma 2-0 at home thanks to goals from Nico Gonzalez and Giacomo Bonaventura.

For Roma, they didn’t really manage to change the fate of this result. Argentina’s Viola winger scored the opening goal of the evening after just five minutes with a penalty awarded after a VAR check. It was just five minutes before Bonaventura was on the scoresheet with the second and final goal of the night. Mourinho’s side definitely suffered from last Thursday’s midweek game against Leicester in the Europa Conference League semifinals and will now focus on the final against Feyenoord. The last two games of the Serie A season are still crucial for the Giallorossi.

AS Roma also saw the comeback of Leonardo Spinazzola, who sidelined most of the season with an Achilles tendon injury he sustained at last summer’s UEFA Euro 2020 against Belgium. It was a ray of hope for the fans and Mourinho on a rather difficult night at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

From the looks of it, the Europa League race is more entertaining than ever with just two games left to play. Lazio have three points more (62) than the other three sides after beating Sampdoria this weekend, and then there’s AS Roma, Fiorentina and Atalanta with 59 points each in the table. Technically, all these sides can play in European football next year but that depends on the UEFA Conference League final and also on the final Serie A placement of Mourinho’s side. That’s why these sides will keep fighting until the end to secure a Europa League spot without depending on the Giallorossi.

As always, you can watch every game on Paramount+. Here are the games remaining for each team in the race for spots in the Europa League and Conference League. The fifth gets Europe and the sixth goes to the Conference League.
