Sen. Marco Rubio remains the favorite against Rep. Val Demings

PEMBROKE PARK, Florida. – Rep. Val Demings released a new ad on Wednesday attacking Senator Marco Rubio for his attendance record.

The ad claims she has been showing up every day for 27 years to keep dangerous criminals away, not knowing if she would come home to her family.

“When I was chief we reduced violent crime by 40%, but Marco, you have one of the worst attendance records in the Senate. If Florida needs you, you just don’t show up.”

PolitiFact reported on Thursday that “since taking office in 2011, Rubio has missed 346 or 9.2% of 3,744 roll call votes GovTracka non-partisan website that collects congressional data.” Demings claims he has “one of the worst attendance records in the Senate.”

PolitiFact definitely that’s mostly true. That doesn’t change the fact that Rubio remains the favourite.

Demings has a certain recognition value. She served as impeachment manager during the first trial of former President Donald Trump and she was the first woman to serve as Orlando police chief.
