Friends only! Sell the OC star Alex Hall responded to speculation that there is a romantic connection between her and her costar Tyler Stanaland.
“It literally never crossed my mind until after the show aired it made headlines on every damn news channel,” Hall, 33, said exclusively Us weekly on Tuesday, December 20, while promoting her Keurig collaboration with her Oppenheim Group boss, Jason Oppenheim.
The California native continued, “Tyler is going through so much right now. I can’t speak for him but I know when I got divorced dating wasn’t on my radar at all. … Dating is just another job for me. And that’s where Tyler and I lean on each other in our friendship.”
Stanaland, 33, split from Brittany snow in September after two years of marriage.
“After some time and consideration, Britt and I have made the difficult decision to separate. This decision was made with love and mutual respect for each other,” the former pro surfer wrote via Instagram at the time. “We realized that we need to take some time to ensure we are all living our most fulfilling and authentic lives. We started this journey as best friends and our relationship will continue to be a priority not only for us but also for our dog Charlie. We sincerely appreciate your support and ask for privacy as we navigate this new chapter.”
For her part, Hall was previously married to her Neil Flores for seven years. The exes share a son and a daughter.
Before Stanaland and Snow, 36, officially called it quits, the realtor’s flirtatious behavior in Season 1 of Sell the OC sparked split rumours.
“One night, kayla [Cardona] tried to kiss me And then it happened another night too,” Stanaland claimed on the Reality Life With Kate Casey podcast in August ahead of the Netflix series’ premiere later that month. “On the show, out of respect for her, I just try to minimize it and brush over it so … there’s no drama. We can all focus on what we should be doing.”
Cardona, 33, for her part, narrated Us in September that she wasn’t “the one who [Snow] should be concerned.”
The Netflix personality continued, “[Alex and Tyler’s friendship is] very inappropriate. I mean very hypocritical… [because] I think it’s pretty obvious that I never touched the guy. You know what I mean? Let alone sit on his lap, suck his nose, or undress [like Brindle’s skinny-dipping dare].”
Though Hall received backlash from some of her co-stars for giving Stanaland a “nose” — she put her mouth on his nose and blew until the air came out of his mouth — she manages to laugh at the situation.
“Tyler was out to dinner with his brother a few weeks ago and a girl came up to his brother and said, ‘So what’s up with the curious?’ And basically they used it as an intro, as an icebreaker for… that girl… who they talked to the rest of the night. I said, ‘You’re welcome. Did I help you have sex? You’re welcome,’” she joked.
Despite the drama of Sell the OCIn her first season, Hall is grateful for the opportunities it opened up for her.
“I think the only drastic thing that has really changed is [having] various possibilities of work-related things. Like my partnership with Keurig, this would never have happened without the show,” she said Us.
The reality star has teamed up with Keurig this holiday season to create the Salted Caramel Martini, an upscale twist on the traditional espresso martini that’s easy to make with the new K-Cafe SMART. Oppenheim, 45, has also collaborated on a new recipe – a maple and cinnamon cappuccino.
The President of the Oppenheim Group thinks that the practical coffee maker is the perfect Christmas present. “It’s inexpensive and who doesn’t drink coffee?” he said Us. Hall agreed, adding that the real estate company has Keurig machines throughout the office.
“Honestly, before I got this machine, I was [a] Black Coffee Girl, and then I got this machine, which made things so easy and kind of fun,” she said. “And the kids love to get involved. My son literally asked me, ‘Mom, how can I make your coffee in the morning?’ … It is so sweet.”
Sell the OC Season 2 has yet to be announced.
