Light it up! King Charles III, Maiim Bialik and a growing number of celebrities are celebrating Hanukkah in style.
The 74-year-old King of England, who is the head of the Church of England, had the opportunity to observe Jewish traditions during a public appearance on Friday December 16. Charles was photographed dancing the Hora hand in hand with members of the Jewish community center JW3 in North London. The British Sovereign, who was meeting with the stepsister of Anne Frank, who died in the Holocaust during World War II, also had a chance to admire the organization’s menorah during the outing.
Charles – who will be celebrating Christmas with his wife Queen Consort CamillaSon Prince William and the rest of the Royal Family at Sandringham – had the opportunity to meet with a group of Holocaust survivors to discuss their experiences and the miraculous holiday. The party guests on Friday continued to groove with the king violinist on the roof “To Life” and Psalm “Oseh Shalom”.
Born in England, she is not the only celebrity opening the Festival of Lights. For her part, Bialik was dying to unwrap her Hanukkah sweater on Sunday, December 18, hours before the official start of the holiday.
“As someone who celebrates Hanukkah, I was absolutely thrilled to wear this amazing sweater,” he said blossom Alum, 47, snapped an Instagram selfie on Sunday. “The Festival of Lights lasts 8 nights and starts on Sunday 18th December. I wish you all a season of light that blocks all darkness.”
Bialik’s sweater was blue and yellow fabric with a tinsel Star of David on it. She completed the look with a pair of festive earrings in the shape of tiny menorahs.
Busy Phillips also got caught up in the Hanukkah spirit and made her own clay menorah in the shape of eight mushrooms.
“I finished my menorah just in time – let’s pray I don’t burn my eye with latke oil again,” he said Dawson’s Creek Alum, 43, quipped on Instagram on Friday, showing off her creation. “I used @sculpdit which really was the gift @emilybbb keeps giving.”
Philipp’s and estranged husband Marc Silberstein – who announced their split in May – are celebrating both Christmas and Hanukkah as they have common parent-children Birdie, 14, and Cricket, 9.
“I really hate it when parents call their kids their best friends because I hope that’s not true for both of you,” he said Cougar Town Alum told exclusively Us weekly in April of their eldest child, who has already expressed an interest in acting. “But Birdie is great. We have some teenage moments, sure, but overall I’m really grateful to have such an intelligent and awesome kid, two of them. But as a teenager, I feel like Birdie really comes into its own and shines.”
