A man riding a scooter hit and injured a two-year-old boy and fled after the hit-and-run.
Police are looking for the scooter rider who hit the toddler as the boy was crossing a street in New York City with his father earlier this month.
The incident happened at 7:40 p.m. on June 2 near the intersection of East Houston and Suffolk streets in the Lower East Side neighborhood, according to the New York City Police Department.
“A 2-year-old boy was crossing the street with his father when he was hit by the suspect in a two-wheeled scooter and fled town,” the police department tweeted on Friday morning.
The suspect is wanted after leaving the scene injured and was at large as of Friday afternoon.
Police said the toddler suffered scratches all over his body and emergency workers examined him at the scene, according to the New York Post.
Two images of the suspect tweeted by police officers showed him wearing a light-colored hoodie and riding a red and green scooter.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the New York City Police Department’s Crime Stoppers.
The scooter hit-and-run happened days before a BMW driver hit a 12-year-old girl in the Bronx and fled the scene. Video of the June 5 crime near Boone Avenue and East 174th Street showed the girl turning over the hood and roof of the car and her shoes flying in the air. The moment of impact is slightly blurred in the clip.
Although the driver stopped briefly, footage shows the vehicle pulling away.
The girl, identified as Nevaeh Joseph, ran from between the parked cars before the dark BMW caught her. She suffered cuts and bruises.
“She’s traumatized and in a lot of pain from head to toe,” her mother, Christine Cruz, told ABC 7.
