SCITUATE, MASS. (WHDH) – With most of the country facing lifeguard staffing shortages, Situate said they are ready and will be training dozens of their guards on Wednesday.
The lifeguards worked with local first responders to go through the different scenarios they could face on the beach this summer.
“It’s hard to describe an emergency and let people run their heads over what’s going to happen. So it’s very helpful for them to just follow directions,” said Peter Sullivan, Scituate’s Chief Lifeguard. “We do this every year. The other great thing is the cooperation with the police, the fire brigade and the harbor master. And they are all involved today.”
