BAHAMAS – An investigation is underway at a resort in the Bahamas after Sandals Resort on the island of Great Exuma confirmed 3 people died on Friday. The resort has so far only said it was a “reported health emergency.”
Sandals Resorts released a statement to Local 10 News regarding the incident.
“Nothing is more important to Sandals Resorts than the safety of our guests. It is with deep sadness that we have to confirm the deaths of three guests at Sandals Emerald Bay on May 6, 2022.”
CNN reported that Bahamas acting Prime Minister Chester Cooper confirmed the dead were Americans, two men and a woman died at the resort and a fourth American, a woman, was airlifted to a hospital in Nassau.
Sandals’ release to Local 10 News continued, “Initially, a health emergency was declared and in accordance with our protocols, we immediately alerted emergency medical personnel and the appropriate local authorities. We are actively working to support both the investigation and the families of guests in any way we can during this difficult time. Out of respect for the privacy of our guests, we are unable to disclose any further information at this time.”
