Salem Police Charge Three Teens Allegedly Making Threatening Calls To Schools – Boston News, Weather, Sports

Salem, Mass. (WHDH) — Three Salem youths are being charged after the trio allegedly made numerous calls threatening violence and at least one instance of an imminent school shooting, Salem Police Department said in a statement.

According to officials, the youths made more than 20 calls threatening violence on Friday morning after they were first warned of a possible shooting at Collins Middle School. The police presence at the school was increased out of “an abundance of caution,” the statement said.

As the calls continued throughout Friday evening into Saturday morning, officers were able to determine that the calls were being made from a disabled cellphone. Authorities said they were eventually able to glean enough information from the calls to allow officers to determine the whereabouts of the teenage callers and formally charge them in the early hours of Saturday morning.
