Russian mercenary named “Executioner” killed by Ukrainian sniper

Vladimir Andonov, a member of the notorious Wagner group, had fought in Ukraine’s Donbass region, Syria and Libya

One of Vladimir Putin’s most notorious mercenaries, nicknamed the “Executioner,” was allegedly killed by a Ukrainian sniper.

Vladimir Andonov, 44, from the Buryatia region of eastern Russia, was a member of the notorious Wagner group and is believed to have been killed in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine.

The Wagner Group is a private military company designated by the US government as the Russian military’s proxy force.

She has been fighting alongside Russian separatists in the Donbass region since 2014 and has been active in Syria, Libya and Mali.

The fighters of the Wagner group are mainly former paratroopers or special forces.

The group has been accused of committing war crimes and “gross human rights abuses” in countries where it operates, leading to it being sanctioned by the EU and the US.

Andonov earned the nickname “The Executioner” for the brutal tactics he employed during combat in Ukraine and on previous missions in Syria and Libya.

Andonov was reportedly killed by a Ukrainian sniper

His death was first reported by the Russian publication Moskovsky Komsomolets, which wrote: “The death of Vladimir Andonov, better known as Vaha, in Ukraine has become well known.

“He died last night exploring the area with his friend.”

The publication said Andonov was most likely killed by a sniper.

It is said that Andonov fought for Russia in Donbass back in 2014, served in the special forces and received a medal “For Merit in Combat”.

Andonov is said to have played a crucial role in the mass shooting of Ukrainian prisoners of war and the massacre of civilians in Donbass.

Andonov’s death was confirmed on Russian Telegram channels

His death was also confirmed by Russian military sources in Buryatia in eastern Russia via messaging app Telegram.

“He died at night while scouting the area, along with his companion, probably killed by a sniper,” an unnamed source said.

Another military Telegram channel said he died with Bair Mitupov, another fighter from the Buryatia region.

The deaths mark another loss for Putin, who is also reported to have lost two generals in a single strike on Sunday.

Lieutenant General Roman Berdnikov, 47, and Major General Roman Kutuzov were reportedly killed in the same ambush on a bridge in eastern Ukraine.
