Rugby star Kurtley Beale arrested for sexually assaulting Bondi

Rugby union star Kurtley Beale was arrested this afternoon and is expected to be charged with an alleged sexual assault at a Bondi-licensed venue.
Rugby union star Kurtley Beale has been arrested and is expected to be charged with sexually assaulting a woman in Bondi last month.
The athlete was stopped by police in Rainbow Street, Kingsford, just before 2.30pm on Friday and taken to Waverley Police Station.
He is expected to be charged with the alleged sexual assault of a 28-year-old woman at the Beach Road Hotel in Bondi on Saturday December 17.
The Wallabies winger has a history of drinking problems and had previously taken leave from rugby to enter a private healthcare facility and seek advice on “ongoing issues”.
Earlier this month, he was selected as one of 44 players in a four-day Gold Coast Wallabies training camp.
After playing for French team Racing 92, Beale returned home and rejoined the Waratahs as a full-back.
Beale moved back to Australia in time for the birth of his first son KJ with wife Maddi last year.
Beale was previously fined $40,000 and banned from the game indefinitely for hitting Melbourne Rebels team-mates Gareth Delve and Cooper Vuna on the team bus after a Super Rugby match in South Africa.
In 2014 he was found to have breached rugby’s code of conduct by sending former Wallabies chief executive Di Patston an offensive image.
Beale’s athletic career
Kurtley Beale began his professional rugby union career in 2008 with the NSW Waratahs in Super Rugby competition.
He quickly established himself as a key player for the team and was a member of the Waratahs squad that won the Super Rugby title in 2014.
He also represented Australia in international friendlies, making his debut for the Wallabies in 2009.
In 2015, Beale took a break from rugby to play for the London Wasps in the English Premiership.
He returned to Australia the following year and rejoined the Waratahs.
He played for the Waratahs until 2019 and then switched to the Queensland Reds.
Beale has played over 70 friendlies for Australia and is considered one of the best playmakers in the country.
He is known for his versatility, being able to play as a center, fly-half and fullback.
In addition to his national and international rugby career, Beale has also represented Australia in rugby sevens and was part of the Australia team that won the gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
