Ricky Martin denies domestic violence allegations after receiving a restraining order

Ricky Martin has denied allegations made against him in a domestic violence restraining order filed in Puerto Rico.
A law 54 complaint, also known as the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act, has been filed against the singer. However, the authorities did not identify the petitioner.
A rep for the 50-year-old singer said: “The allegations against Ricky Martin that led to a protective order are completely false and fabricated.”
They added to People, “We are very confident that when the true facts of this matter come out, our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.”
Police reportedly attempted to issue the restraining order in Dorado, Puerto Rico, but were unable to locate him.
Police spokesman Axel Valencia told AP: “Until now, the police have not been able to find him.”
According to the AP, Valencia added that the order bars Martin from contacting the person who filed it.
He reportedly added that a hearing will be held later where a judge will decide whether the order should stand or be overturned. According to the outlet, he said such orders typically last at least a month.
AP also reports that he said the petitioner did not contact the police, which would involve a review of whether there was enough evidence to charge, but went directly to the court.
Martin has sold more than 70 million records worldwide and has two Grammys and five Latin Grammys to his name.
He had great success with a number of songs, most notably 1999’s Livin’ La Vida Loca.
