Reporter wonders why Jack Harlow (??) wasn’t charged with Young Thug

Why isn’t Jack Harlow charged with all these rappers? That’s what a reporter wanted to know at a recent press conference announcing gang charges against the likes of Young Thug and Gunna in Fulton County, Georgia.

“Um, the prosecution has Young Thug and a bunch of other rappers. But there’s a name I was expecting and I didn’t see it. And this is Jack Harlow,” a reporter asked. “Can you speak to it?”

District Attorney Fani Willis looked up with a slight grin before saying: “What I can tell you is that as extensive as this indictment is, I said to my team, ‘Let’s not be sexy. Let’s not overdo it. Let’s be conservative in our approach.’ That’s always my approach. In this approach, 28 defendants were indicted and they were charged for the crimes appropriate to this RICO indictment.”

Some users on Twitter speculated that the journalist may have prepared his question based on some troll tweets, including one from @WaveyForever, who wrote“Isn’t Jack Harlow also on YSL?” (YSL stands for Young Slime Life, the organization the “Go Crazy” rapper founded.) Another tweet read: “Free YSL! Arrest Jack Harlow!!!!”

Perhaps next the reporter will ask about Queen Naija who has become Twitter’s Favorite Artist too silly and to blame when things go wrong.

The jokes surrounding Harlow and the many charges come as Young Thug, Gunna and other members of YSL face serious allegations. Young Thug – born Jeffery Lamar Williams – is accused of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and participation in street gang criminal activity. Meanwhile, Gunna – real name Sergio Giovanni Kitchens – faces charges of conspiracy to violate RICO. Though Gunna has yet to be arrested, Sheriff Patrick Labat confirmed they would be “taking precautions” with the rapper’s team.

The 88-page indictment indicts Young Thug with a range of criminal activities ranging from armed robbery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon to murder, both direct and indirect.

Young Slime Life, the organization of which Thug is a founding member, allegedly claims “affiliation with the national Bloods gang.”

In February of this year, two YSL employees allegedly asked Young Thug for “permission” to “do a second attempted murder” Atlanta rapper YFN Lucci while he was incarcerated in the Fulton County Jail awaiting trial for murder, the indictment said. Corresponding complexLucci was stabbed to death at the facility on February 9 – an attack by prosecutors committed by YSL staff.

An attorney for Thug said the artist “strongly denies the allegations made against him and looks forward to the opportunity to defend this case in court.”
