A new report from Automox identifies the challenges of securing endpoints and keeping business running in the new normal of the pandemic. The report shows that over the past year, it has become even more difficult to keep endpoints continuously up-to-date and secure.
Businesses continue to struggle with the complexities of using multiple legacy tools to manage and secure today’s remote work environment, with the majority of teams (60%) having to use over 10 different solutions to keep their endpoints secure and up to date.
This adds up to many manual processes and inefficiencies, with the biggest problem affecting ITops teams today being asking too few staff to manage too many different endpoints with little visibility and minimal automation, resulting in soul-crushing, stressful work. This is simply unacceptable given trends such as IT skills shortages and the larger Great Resignation.
At the same time, the burden of keeping so many endpoints constantly updated with so many different tools increases risk across the organization and potentially impacts the employee experience. A majority of ITops teams (84%) believe there is significant room for improvement in their ability to manage endpoints, and most respondents see an accelerated need for automation, with over 90% of ITops professionals agreeing that automation will improve IT Improves agility, benefits the security posture and improves productivity and reduces costs.
Automox’s survey also showed that pure remote work has not become the de facto model as companies move towards permanent hybrid models: companies with 80% or more of their employees working remotely have declined, followed by an increase (58.5%) in hybrid work is balanced models.
For its report, Automox surveyed 500 industry experts worldwide.
