Reliance Jio retained the top spot with the highest average data download speed of 24.1 megabits per second among 4G service providers in November, according to the latest data released by the Telecommunications Authority. India (TRAI) announced.
Vodafone Idea (VIL) and Bharti Airtel networks also recorded an increase in average 4G download speeds for the month.
Jio Network recorded an average 4G data download speed increase of about 10% while that on VIL and Airtel networks increased by 8.9% and 5.3% respectively month-on-month.
VIL maintained its lead in 4G data upload speeds in October. The company’s network recorded an upload speed of 8 mbps, the highest in five months.
Download speeds help consumers access content from the internet, while upload speeds help them send data or share images or videos with their contacts.
Airtel and Jio network also recorded their highest 5-month upload speeds of 5.6 mbps and 7.1 mbps respectively in November.
Average speeds are calculated by TRAI based on the data it collects across India with the help of MySpeed app on a real-time basis.
