Reinhart scores 17 seconds OT, Panthers beat Bruins 4-3 – Boston News Weather Sports

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Sam Reinhart hit 17 seconds into overtime to cap a late spate of hits to give the Florida Panthers a 4-3 win over the NHL-leading Boston Bruins on Saturday night.
After David Pastrnak scored to put the Bruins ahead with 48.6 seconds left, Florida captain Aleksander Barkov equalized with 2.4 seconds left.
The Panthers, winners of the NHL Presidents’ Trophy last season, won for the first time this season by going into the third third of a game. Florida had led 0-17-1 in such situations while the Bruins were leading 26-0-1 after the first 40 minutes.
Craig Smith and Charlie Coyle also scored for Boston and Jeremy Swayman made 34 saves.
The Panthers scored goals from Brandon Montour and Sam Bennett. Alex Lyon, Florida’s usual starter for his AHL team in Charlotte, stopped 36 shots.
Coyle was credited with the goal that gave Boston a 2-1 lead late in the second half after Bennett knocked the puck out of the air and hit his own net.
Bennett redeemed himself of the third at 8:29 a.m. and connected it with a big wrist shot from the right circle. He was able to fool Swayman a bit as he tried to pass the puck but instead wound up and released one from 20ft.
NOTE: Lyon started in place of the injured Sergei Bobrovsky for the fifth straight season. … Boston forward Trent Frederic left the game in the first half with an upper-body injury and didn’t return.
