Referee thrown off after being hit in the face with the ball

A Football League referee was taken to hospital after being hit square in the face by a ball.
Sam Purkiss was forced off the pitch after the incident during Grimsby Town’s League 2 game against Swindon Town.
in the 11thth minute on Saturday afternoon, a Swindon Town player accidentally hit the ball at Purkiss.
After being hit to the head, the referee lay motionless on the ground before receiving medical attention from paramedics.
Purkiss was cared for for about 10 minutes before being removed and taken to the hospital for precautionary checks.
He was left dazed and dazed in the hospital room after the incident, but was sitting up and speaking, it was reported.
He was taken to hospital with a concussion but was allowed home later in the day.
Swindon tweeted: “Great news and we wish Sam a speedy recovery.”
Gareth Viccars took over as executive director and unmanaged Swindon won the game 5-0, with Charlie Austin scoring on his debut after re-signing for the club.
