Red-hot Raddysh scores hat-trick as Blackhawks defeat Bruins 6-3 – Boston News Weather Sports

CHICAGO (AP) — Taylor Raddysh scored three goals and the Chicago Blackhawks defeated Boston 6-3 Tuesday night, giving the NHL-leading Bruins a second straight regular loss for the first time this season.

Raddysh’s first hat-trick of his career gave him 20 goals this season and six in his last four games. Chicago finished a three-game slide (0-2-1).

“The puck is just finding its way in,” Raddysh said. “I’ve just got to keep going to the net and getting to the areas where the puck is going to be.”

Boris Katchouk scored a tie goal at 6:59 of the third period and added two assists for his first three-point game.

Joey Anderson had a goal and an assist, and MacKenzie Entwistle also scored for Chicago, who were going for a tied bottom spot in the Western Conference.

Never mind that Boston scored a whopping 55 points more than the Blackhawks.

“I don’t think it’s surprising,” Anderson said. “Obviously they have a great team and we knew we had to play a full 60 minutes tonight and that’s exactly what it took.”

Hampus Lindholm had a goal and an assist after missing Sunday’s Bruins game in Detroit with a swollen foot. Trent Frederic and Pavel Zacha also scored for Boston.

Bruins top scorer David Pastrnak missed a penalty by 1:24.

The Bruins went into it with a league-best 105 points. They became the fastest team in NHL history to record 50 wins in a season by defeating the Red Wings 3-2 in Boston on Saturday. But the Bruins lost 5-3 in Detroit on Sunday and are 3-0 in their last four on the heels of a 10-game winning streak that has led them to a big lead in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference.

Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron admitted his team stutters.

“I think right now we’re separated,” Bergeron said. “We don’t play right; we cheat.

“I think this league will humble you. I think that’s what we’re getting right now. It’s not good enough.”

Blackhawks goaltender Petr Mrazek again worsened a groin injury that had plagued him for the past two seasons and was replaced by Alex Stalock at 8:48 of the second period.

Mrazek, who stopped all 16 shots he faced, abruptly ran into the dressing room after falling onto the ice to make a couple of close-range saves on Frederic to keep Chicago 1-0 up. About a minute earlier, Dmitry Orlov’s slapshot hit Mrazek in the mask.

Relieved, Stalock stopped 23 of 26 shots.

Linus Ullmark made 23 saves for Boston.

The Bruins had a second straight slow start that game, the second of a five-game journey.

“I think we just need to get back to our standards,” said coach Jim Montgomery. “And our standards are that we will start the games well. We may bend sometimes, but we don’t break. And we broke.”

Entwistle scored the only goal of the first half at 14:27 when he hit the net and slotted the puck under Ullmark’s right heel.

Lindholm equalized at 5:02 left in the second on the third shot against Stalock, hitting on a shielded high drive from inside the blue line.

Anderson put Chicago back in front 1:34 later and slammed a loose puck off the right side of the net.

Frederic connected it to 2 with 11.1 seconds left in the second. Stalock stopped Frederic’s top attempt at point-blank range, but then accidentally knocked the puck off his pad.

Zacha was credited with putting Boston ahead at 3:02 of the third when his pass landed on Chicago defender Jarred Tinordi’s skate. Raddysh equalized 53 seconds later, poking the puck from a scrum on the doorstep.

Katchouk defeated Ullmark with a 25-foot shot from the right wing for a 3-all deadlock at 6:59. Tyler Bertuzzi’s shot, 8:46 left, rattled off the crossbar. It was settled as a tie goal on ice but overturned by video review.

Raddysh made it 5-3 with a power play goal with 3:52 left. He completed his hat trick by shooting into an empty net with 45 seconds remaining.
