Rare Assam tea sells for a record Rs. 1 Lakh per Kg, Reaction on Twitter

India’s love affair with the bottle is old and well known. We can’t imagine starting our day any other way than with a cup of bottle. This pleasant beer has many regional varieties and versions produced around the country and even around the world. Recently, one such rare tea from Assam, called Manohari Gold Tea, was sold for a record Rs. 1 Lakh per Kg of Manohari Tea Estate. This tea was purchased by Saurav Tea Merchants at the Guwahati Tea Auction Center (GTAC). An auction official said this was the highest bid ever for a tea at the auction.

Rajan Lohia, owner of Manohari Tea Estate, said NDTV, “We brew tea with the finest cloves P-126. Each year our goal is to produce 10 kg Yellow tea but this year we produce 2 kg of Yellow Tea. As for tea production, Assam’s weather and soil quality are perfect. We only put stress on quality. “

Bidyananda Barkakoty, Advisor, Northeastern Tea Association (NETA), told ANI, “The Manohari Gold tea sold today is a specialty tea. The techniques for plucking and processing it are unique.” He further revealed that many such unique and expensive teas are being produced and sold in Japan Assam. Therefore, not only the usual Kadak chai, but also varieties such as purple and yellow tea are now being grown. “Small tea growers in Assam are also making handmade tea. This particular handcrafted tea is in great demand around the world,” he added.

Interestingly, the same tea set records in 2018 and 2020. In 2018, Manohari Gold Tea sold for Rs. 39,000 each kg while in 2020 it hit a record high price of Rs. 75,000 per kilogram.
