“The number one reason people come to services is to get a marriage license,” said Tia Bland, communications director for Bernalillo County. “It’s a constant stream of people coming in for a marriage license and we can’t deliver that right now. Anything that has to do with the secretarial office, those computers are blocked. broken. So, you know, some people don’t. maybe shut down at their house.”
The Metropolitan Detention Center was also hit hard by the attack.
“We’re not allowing visitors or attorneys, or really anyone at this time,” Bland said.
The ransomware attack is adding to an already long backlog of court filings.
“We’ve had to do a lot of hearings and we haven’t been able to do it for the past two days,” Jennifer Barela said.
