Rail network paralyzed due to communication problems

Sydney’s rail network was brought to a standstill on Wednesday as a communications problem affects all train lines ahead of the afternoon rush hour.
A statement from Transport NSW warned the problem would affect services until the afternoon peak and urged commuters to allow plenty of extra travel time.
“We expect this to continue into the afternoon peak hours,” the statement said.
“Trains may stop longer than normal on platforms or between stations while the problem is ongoing. We will update you when we have more information.”
There is currently no estimated time when the issue will be resolved.
Traveler Jonathan Row is on the T1 line and said his train had been stuck at Strathfield station for around ten minutes.
“The railway guard has announced on numerous occasions that they do not know how long this will take,” he said.
“I wonder if this will be a quick fix or will be one today [Sydney] traffic crisis?”
The problem affects all routes of the rail network.
