The Spanish legend endured an epic battle with Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals in London to eventually prevail 3-6 7-5 3-6 7-5 7-6 (10-4).
This came despite him going off court for medical during the second set and returning to show incredible determination and quality to bring down the formidable American.
When asked after the game how he was doing, Nadal told the BBC: “The body is fine in general, of course something’s not going well in the stomach to be honest.
“I had to find a way to serve a little bit differently and for a lot of moments I thought I wasn’t going to be able to finish the game but the space, the energy is something else so thank you for that.”
Nadal now has a day to recover with his semi-final against the Australian on Friday and he knows he must do his best to beat his in-form rival but admits he may not be fully fit .
Commenting on his clash with Kyrgios, he said: “First of all, I hope I’m ready to play.
“Nick is a great player on all surfaces but especially here on grass he is having a great grass season.
“It’s going to be a big challenge, I have to be at 100% to keep having chances, so I’ll try to do that.”
