A high school teacher has been accused of sexually abusing Brisbane boys, including when taking youth groups abroad to New Zealand and Africa.
The 35-year-old man was arrested at his home on Friday and charged with 11 counts of child sexual abuse related to incidents between 2014 and 2019.
The man is said to have sexually assaulted several teenage boys when he was a secondary school teacher and sports educator in Toowong, Mount Tamborine, Pullenvale, Darra and Dakabin.
He is also accused of assaulting some of the boys when he was a youth group leader on trips abroad to New Zealand and Africa.
The man has been charged with three counts of sexual activity, three counts of sexual assault and five counts of indecent treatment by a person in a position of trust and authority outside Australia.
He appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody, only to appear again on January 20.
Detectives say their investigation into the man’s alleged child molestation is ongoing and they have urged anyone with information to come forward, including anyone who wishes to make a sexual violence complaint to police.
