The Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund was the first charity of which the princes were patrons and honors Harry’s late classmate, who died in a car accident in 2002 at the age of 18. “As you gather under this umbrella tonight, the charity supports 51 kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in rural Uganda where 1,700 projects have been completed and over 35,000 children each year benefit by receiving an education they otherwise would not receive would have,” wrote William, 40, and Harry, 38.

They also honored their late pal 20 years after his death. “Those of us who knew Henners will always miss his mischievous charm and hilarious sense of humor,” they added.

The charity will cease operations, but the brothers noted, “Henry’s legacy will live on through the incredible achievements of his parents over the years.”

William and Harry wished the participants a “fun evening and a very Merry Christmas”.
