Prince Harry says he often sees his mother Diana’s “legacy” when he looks at his own children as he greets recipients of an award honoring the Princess of Wales.

The Duke of Sussex kicked off the virtual Diana Awards ceremony by telling the young “changemakers” that their positive actions kept the princess’s voice “alive” and that she was the solution to the “disunity, conflict and anger” around be world.

In a written tribute to the awardees, Prince William also praised the group of more than 180 people from around the world and echoed his brother’s words, saying they were the “embodiment of my mother’s legacy”.

The Diana Award was created to promote her idea that young people can change the world and the ceremony took place on her 61st birthday, July 1st.

The organization has three main initiatives, namely a mentoring program for vulnerable young people, a youth-led anti-bullying campaign and the Diana Award, which recognizes young people aged nine to 25 for their social or humanitarian work.

Opening the awards ceremony, Harry said: “There hasn’t been a day in the last two and a half decades that I haven’t thought about the mark she has left not just on me and my brother but on all of our lives.

“I see her legacy in all of you, I see her legacy in a Diana Award community that spans multiple generations.

“I see her legacy every time I meet with families, youth and children from all corners of the world.

“And I see my mother’s legacy when I look at my own children every day.”
