Pressure is mounting for a fuel tax cut after petrol pump prices rose by 7p to 185p a liter in a week.
Labor MP Justin Madders said: “Community nurses are at their wits’ end.
“It costs them more to visit patients than they can claim in mileage.”
Taxi drivers and couriers are struggling and ice cream trucks are being driven out of business.
Tory MP Fay Jones said: “The cost of fuel in the country is just horrendous.”
Fair Fuel UK is calling for a tariff cut of at least 20p and a watchdog to ensure drivers benefit.
It was cut by 5p this year but the Government has no plans to cut it any further.
Fair Fuel UK’s Howard Cox said: “The debilitating pain of filling up at the pump needs more than a band-aid.
“Fuel tax needs to be reduced by at least 20p and this time monitored so everything gets passed on to drivers using a PumpWatch watchdog.”
