POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A Broward County man has been arrested and charged with the disappearance and murder of his wife.
Police are still searching for the victim’s body in this case, but her husband is now facing murder charges.
Local 10 News’ Bridgette Matter spoke to several neighbors off-camera, who said the couple had been quiet and they were stunned.
It was May 30th when Irene Lanning Xeniti’s daughter reported her missing.
Two weeks earlier, police visited the home Xeniti shared with her husband in Pompano Beach.
Detectives said her husband Ian Lanning told them they had had a fight and she left home on May 14.
Police found evidence via cellphone that the couple were out and about in the area on May 20.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home and Lanning’s car. They found evidence that indicated Xeniti was murdered in the house and that her body had been moved.
Lanning appeared before a judge on Sunday. He faces charges of first-degree murder, but police have not released any information about a possible motive for the murder.
A judge has not granted Lanning bail and he will remain behind bars.
Police are still searching for Xeniti’s remains and are asking anyone with information about them to come forward.
