BOSTON (WHDH) — A person has been hospitalized after being shot dead near Boston Common in broad daylight Thursday afternoon.
According to police, around 4 p.m. responders were called to the scene near the intersection of Winter Street and Tremont Street for reports of a person who was shot.
Upon arrival, they found the victim had non-life-threatening injuries.
The Common was packed with people enjoying the nice weather and thankfully no one was hurt.
Red Line service was briefly delayed because the shooting took place so close to the Park Street station.
“Amid national mourning for the child and adult victims of the Texas mass shooting, we are witnessing gunfire in broad daylight in one of Boston’s most congested areas. I pray for the victim and I pray that all of us – our entire society, from the largest corporations to the smallest neighborhood groups – join the effort to reduce illegal guns on our streets and in our communities,” Suffolk DA Kevin Hayden
Investigators cleared the scene in about an hour but have not released details about the shooter.
