Police make arrests after a Macy’s employee was beaten by a trio of shoplifting suspects

AVENTURA, Fla. – Police made a series of arrests after a clerk was ambushed by a group of shoplifting suspects at Macy’s Aventura Mall on Tuesday night.

Part of the store was ransacked after thieves tried to steal some clothes. When a loss prevention worker intervened, he was pepper sprayed in the face.

After this encounter, the thieves drove out of the store and a lookout was made for their car – a white Lexus.

Hours later, around 11:20 p.m., a Lauderhill officer caught up with the Lexus along State Road 7 and West Sunrise Boulevard.

Police said the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the driver, identified as 21-year-old Armani Green, never stopped. There was a chase of Davie and then a minor accident on Davie Road and Orange Drive.

Lauderhill officials said after the accident both Green and a teenager ran out of the car.

Green was found immediately, and a K-9 officer later located the child. Police took the teenager, who is charged with violently resisting an officer, to a juvenile facility, while Green was also arrested and taken to Broward’s main jail.

Green faces the same opposition to an officer with no charges of violence and an additional charge of fleeing and escaping.

Local 10 News has learned that a third person, an adult male, was also in the car at the time of the chase but has not been charged by Lauderhill.

This third person could be charged with robbery along with the other two in the Aventura incident.
