Police are investigating after the boy failed to respond

Police are investigating the death of a seven-week-old boy at a house in Sydney’s western suburbs.

A crime scene was set up at the home on Stanley Street in St Marys, near Penrith, after emergency services responded to reports the baby was unresponsive around 4.15am on Saturday.

Paramedics attempted to revive the infant before transporting him to Westmead Children’s Hospital. He could not be revived.

Homicide officers are investigating the circumstances of his death.

A report is prepared for the coroner.
